Huge concern. My husband just was notified that his doctor, who he’s had for eighteen years, will not be accepting Aetna insurance as they are so difficult to deal with. Why did we ever quit CostCo who was so easy to work with. And if they won’t deal with them, who else?
Julie, I apologize for no-one getting back to you about your question. Frankly, I rarely look at this page, and the email address listed for me under NEA-Alaska/Retired is incorrect despite a half dozen attempts to get that address changed to the one listed for me as a Region R Director.
The answer to your question is that the decision is not ours, and never has been ours. The overriding concern of the Department of Administration is saving money. When they do that by shifting costs to those covered by AlaskaCare that is when we complain. Aetna has been engaged in a campaign to shift costs to those covered by AlaskaCare, and we have complained about it strenuously. BTW, Costco was never the third party administrator for AlaskaCare. As far as I know, the only connections to them were as a provider for eyeglasses and as a participating pharmacy.
