Hello, NEA-Alaska Retirees! We hope you are having a wonderful week.

We are reaching out to our community today because we need your help to protect our retirement systems and ensure our collective voices remain at the table.

As many of you know, Sandi Ryan has served on the Alaska Retirement Management (ARM) Board with incredible distinction and integrity. She has been a phenomenal advocate for us and deserves to be re-nominated so she can continue serving. At the very least, Governor Mike Dunleavy should follow the law and appoint a representative from the statutory list. However, the Governor has currently chosen not to nominate a TRS and PERS representative to the ARM Board.

Because of this, NEA-Alaska and the Alaska AFL-CIO are pursuing a lawsuit to restore our lawful representation—and we are looking for a few dedicated educators to stand with us as “named plaintiffs.”

What does being a named plaintiff actually require?

It’s much simpler than it sounds! All you need to do is:

* Allow your name to be included on the lawsuit.

* Potentially answer a press inquiry or two.

**We will be with you every step of the way.**

While it’s actually quite unlikely that the press will reach out to you directly, we want you to know exactly what is involved just in case. If you do get a media inquiry, our team will provide comprehensive support. We will equip you with clear talking points and provide hands-on coaching so you feel completely prepared and confident speaking to the press.

Standing together is how we protect the retirement you all worked so hard to earn.

If you are willing to lend your name to help restore educator representation on the ARM Board, please call me at 268-1492 or email me at matthew.moser@neaalaska.org

Thank you for your lifelong dedication to Alaska’s students, and for continuing to stand strong with your fellow educators.

Matthew Moser – NEA-Alaska Government Relations Director
