In Memoriam: Judy Salo

We are saddened to share that Judy Salo passed away this past weekend.
Judy dedicated her life to public service and education. She taught school for more than 20 years, shaping the lives of countless students with her commitment and care. She went on to serve briefly in the Alaska House of Representatives before being elected to the State Senate, where she was an active member of the Health, Education, and Social Services (HESS) Committee.
Her dedication to the well-being of Alaska’s children and families extended beyond the legislature. Judy served on the Children’s Trust Board for several years, worked to advance community health as a trustee for the hospital in Soldotna for six years, and continued her advocacy as a member of the NEA-Alaska Board of Directors.
Throughout her life, Judy remained passionate about health issues, education, and ensuring a better future for Alaska’s children and communities. Her leadership, wisdom, and compassion will be deeply missed.
